The Sabbatical Replacement Organist and Choir Director will serve part-time for four months from September 1, 2012, through December 31, 2012, as a contracted member of the staff of the Storrs Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, under the supervision of the Minister as head of staff.
Music is an integral part of the life of this congregation. The music ministry will involve the Sabbatical Replacement Organist and Choir Director as an educator and principal musician of this congregation, to provide organ (or piano, as appropriate to the literature) music and direct the choir at the primary 10:00 am worship service regularly scheduled on each Sunday and shall select appropriate organ and choral music for each service, for the additional services during the period of this contract, will lead the Adult Choir, and related duties. The candidate chosen for this position will likely meet the following qualifications: a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in service playing and accompaniment of congregational hymnody and song in a liturgical setting, and a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience directing choral ensembles.

Star Island, an island and retreat center off the coast of New Hampshire renowned for its natural beauty, history, and faithful community of attendees, seeks a Youth Minister to work with UCC youth conference this summer.
The Youth Minister will design and implement the youth program for Star Gathering I (July 28-August 4), otherwise known as SG I. In partnership with Program Leaders, the Youth Minister creates a program for youth that focuses on relationship-building, renewal, and spiritual growth for 30-40 vacationing high school students. On the island, she or he leads worship, works with a team to implement the program, and is on-call for pastoral care and youth issues that emerge. The Youth Minister should expect approximately six hours of program work per day, and on-call responsibilities during the evening and night-time hours. Free time is coordinated with the Program Leaders, while allowing for on-call coverage. The Youth Minister either selects or designs the theme-based curriculum with the assistance of the Program Leaders (n.b. the purpose of the youth conferences is not primarily educational).
The successful candidate should be: Ordained in the United Church of Christ or a related tradition; experienced in youth work, including mission trips and/or other in-loco-parentis programs; able to commit to the entire week; creatively inspired to design or adapt a relationship-building, renewing, and spiritual-growth promoting curriculum for youth; prepared to work with a team of leaders to implement a program; and prepared to collaborate with other leaders from the concurrent adult program and island staff to carry forward Star Island traditions.
