2010 Living Waters Award
Bryan Nurnberger,
President and Founder of Simply Smiles, Inc.

Bryan Nurnberger founded Simply Smiles in 2003 with work on the inaugural project, The Casa Hogar Benito Juarez Children’s Home in Oaxaca City, Mexico. Over time Simply Smiles built homes for the homeless of Oaxaca City with the help of volunteers from our Connecticut Churches and Silver Lake conferences. Their current focus is the “Village Project” serving a shockingly poor region of southern Oaxaca, Mexico. They are working to help feed and to work on the systemic issues facing this village community. Find out more about Simply Smiles by visiting www.simplysmiles.org.

Based out of a donated office space in southern Connecticut, and relying heavily on an extremely dedicated network of donors and volunteers, Simply Smiles has become a highly respected, and rapidly growing organization.

Mr. Nurnberger received a BA in History from the University of Colorado in 1999. Before founding Simply Smiles Inc., Mr. Nurnberger worked as a History and Special Education teacher. He has also worked as a rock and ice climbing guide for Eastern Mountain Sports throughout New England. He is an Eagle Scout who has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, lived with monks in Greece, and worked with sugar-cane cutters in The Dominican Republic. Mr. Nurnberger lives with his wife Kristen in Southport, CT.

Persons honored by The Living Waters Award are those who work for justice, live ethically, build community, and promote the common good in their workplaces and in their communities. This award recognizes outstanding Christian ministry, life, and witness that is done outside the church setting as an expression of one’s faith.

This award will be presented at the Fall Annual Meeting, October 22 – 23, 2010.
